After working on replit for a while now, I am convicted in its importance and role in the future. That being said, “Replit is production ready when building production apps on Replit is an order of magnitude easier than other places/ways.”
Here are some ideas that will make that happen:
- Extensions
- Better filtering
- Better repl search
- searching for repls
- searching with workspace
- better AI tooling (make replit a consolidated dev space)
- a fullscreen function
- less bugs
- backlinking in markdown
- file structure = finder
- better formatting
- always on
- cross chrome pane functionality
- auth
- db
- security
- translate language (codex)
- repl management
To be honest, Extensions seems like it is the key to create shared (potentially decentralized) computability. I dream of a world where it is insanely easy for everything to be connected. Like a mini api for everything. But it is more possible with small modules of compute shared and integrated with one another.
People I want to talk more about this to: Dhrumil, Tyler, Bardia, Jeremy, Amjad, Faris
Another thing is that bug fixes are important, however as a person I like to move fast and break things—and I feel like I’ve been sheltering myself too much away from that. New features are a perfect way to do this, because there is no users for these features yet.
Replit quotes
- “keep me honest”
- “When you want to go fast, go alone. When you want to go far, go together.”
