One of the things that I’m very proud of is my podcast the I run with Maq. It’s pretty crazy to think that I’ve been doing something so consistently for so long. Soon we are about to hit episode 21, and as a result will in the top 1 percent of podcasts.
Truthfully, all credit goes to Maq for this. In my journey to be consistent, Maq makes this feel easy. He ensures that we get a podcast out if we’ve been slacking and ensures that we try to better ourselves as speakers.
In my head, the true goal of the Drawing Board is to have an artifact of what we were thinking about as we grow up. If, by chance, any of us end up being impactful, this will be a nice little trail to follow. Maybe not for everyone, but at least my future kids. It’s a good excuse to stay connected to Maq as well, despite going on relatively different paths in life. Spectacularly, I predicted this would be the most important part of The Drawing Board in Podcast.
Consequently, I don’t really care about viewership much. But I think it would be a fun game to try and max out on growth just to see what happens. Writing thoughts here to see how to improve viewership for the podcast.
Digital Growth
- Trailers/clips before and after episode comes out
- CTA from social media clips to podcast
- Consistency across all platforms
- Create landing page
- Increase SEO for the podcast (right now we don’t even come up if you search “Drawing Board Podcast”)
- Start posting more consistently
Quality
- Better mic
- Better webcam
Branding
- Right now our branding is all over the place. It’s really hard to determine what type of podcast this is.
- Should finalize on colours and typography
- In video, our environment should be recognizable. It’s hard being remote and all over the place, but maybe hanging one thing in the background could be enough
- Remove riverside watermark lol
- What is the podcast about? Sure it’s about anything and everything, but I think that is a cop out and also leads to poorer quality episodes. If we don’t want to classify the podcast, we should at least classify the episodes. I notice that the most I think of the most successful podcasts as the “X” podcast.
Experiments
- Having/not having an agenda
- What to do with guests, especially because it’s 2 on 1
