Brainstorming

  • What are humshakals
    • humshakals are clones. In essence, I believe them to be the people that fulfil the same role in communities that I hope to.
  • What feelings do humshakals evoke
    • Mostly envy. Usually because they are able to be the ideal me, or at least a better version of myself
    • It’s weird because it is quite probable that many people wish to play the same role in society as me, however it is difficult to internalize it.
      • Likely the result of being told that I’m unique, special, etc etc.
        • Most people have similar commentary on this: you are unique until you go to university. Then everyone is just as fun, just as smart, just as crazy. I’ve lost my Je ne sais quoi.
    • Thinking of it another way, I should feel relieved that they exist. If—out of the vastness of the world—nobody chose to have the same life mission as me, then that wouldn’t be a good sign.
  • Relating to startup competition
    • Two different views
      • Competition is overrated - Peter Thiel
        • converted, this takes the position you should try and find a different role in a community, or maybe a whole new purpose in life
        • advocates for environmental adaptation
      • Competition is good, because it means problem is important
        • be content in your role in the community, and happy others try and fill it
        • still takes the opinion that you should be the best filler
  • It’s naive to think that I am the best person that will fill this role in society.
  • The other take is that I shouldn’t be thinking about it like this at all—if multiple people have the same goals then a mutualistic approach would be the best.
    • most startups dont take this approach
      • financial greed
        • there is other greed that makes me not want to take this approach
